So this one was kinda fun. We had a leading rep from a Colorado distillery come in with his wife after proposing to celebrate. My boss asked me to come up with a drink for him and well I decided to make a drink with only Local ingredients.
- 1 Oz Breckenridge Px Cask bourbon
- 1 Oz Golden moon Ex Gratia
- 1 Oz Tart cherry from Grove street
So he was a rep for Breckenridge. The whiskey they make is always interesting with frankly me preferring when the do any of their expressions. Px cask stands for Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. Its a flavorful wine that’s a dessert wine so its really sweet and dark in look. Needless to say aging whiskey in the barrels that Px is stored in creates a fun whiskey to mix with.
Ex Gratia is a beautiful take on Génépy with a very complex group of flavors. Its spicy but in an anise and black pepper kinda way. I think I’ll have to talk about this spirit more as time comes. Golden moon does some amazing things though so I’d highly recommend their products
Finally there is Tart cherry from Grove Street. Another company that does some very fun things with spirits. It is a pretty nice spirit. The tartness of the cherry adds sweetness and balance to the drink but because it isn’t too sweet it doesn’t overpower anything.
I do love this cocktail cause its another super simple drink that just taste nice. Its strong again undoubtable that you are drinking spirit when cracking into this one but with a nice meal with it? Fantastic.
