So for May the fourth one year I got to make Star-Wars themed cocktails for the bar I worked at. They had these tall Collins glasses that were rigged in a way that looked like a lightsaber. Instead of separating them all out I’m gonna post all three here.
All three are shaken and then served on ice in a glass that you can find that looks like a lightsaber (probably just a tall Collins glass but I don’t know what you got around)
Blue Lightsaber
1 Oz Bacardi
1 Oz Lagoon Bay
1 Oz Lemon Juice
1 Oz simple
This one is simple as simple can get. The Lagoon Bay spirit is an orange spirit kinda similar to Blue curacao but its just a nicer quality that taste less artificially sweet. Outside of that its exactly what you expect. The lemon adds a vibrancy to the Lagoon Bay’s blue that makes it look just light a lightsaber.
Green Lightsaber
1.5 Oz Midori
1 Oz Mezcal
1 Oz Lemon
1 Oz simple
Okay now this one is a bit more complex and odd but overall just as tasty. The mezcal plays well with the sweetness of Midori’s melon. Honestly it is a perfect drink to introduce someone to Mezcal. Its fruity but has that spice and smoke that only mezcal can truly bring. Only advice I would give is to just to a basic mezcal. Don’t waste something complex here with that Midori around.
NA Red Lightsaber
1 Oz Lyre Italian Orange
1 Oz Martini & Rossi Vinrante
2 Oz Cranberry juice
.5 Oz Boudreaux Cherry Juice
Only Siths deal with absolutes. Absolutely no alcohol in this case. I thought it was fun to make an non-alcoholic drink for my red lightsaber and frankly if you need something that really hits for former drinkers? This may be it. The lyre orange taste like a sweeter version of Aperol while the Martini and Rossi Vinrante adds just a lovely complexity.
Also just a shout out to Martini & Rossi’s Non-alcoholic selections. Legitimately I don’t enjoy their vermouths but everything I’ve had from their NA stuff is delicious.
The cranberry is just a nice bitter juice that isn’t too sweet and keeps it red with the Boudreaux Cherry juice just being something I luckily had on hand that was bitter sweet. Its optional though if you leave it out up the Vinrante usage to 1.5 Oz.
As far as those three drinks go though I’m very happy with all three of them
